Chiropractic Webster Technique for a Comfortable Pregnancy

A woman receiving a chiropractic

Hello and Welcome. I am Dr. Katie Sleigh of Sleigh Family Chiropractic in Arlington Heights. I am a Webster Technique certified chiropractor. Today, I want to discuss this technique with which I hope to help you have a more comfortable pregnancy.

I use the Webster Technique for several reasons. It helps to:

– Analyze interference in your nerve system
– Create balance in the ligaments and muscles that surround your uterus, and
– Restore alignment in the joints of your pelvis and low back.

As a pregnant women you will go through many rapid changes in your body.

– Changes in hormones leads to ligament laxity.
– Your growing belly changes your center of gravity leading to an altered posture.
– Weight gain puts more stress on your pelvis, sacrum and low back joints.

Because of these changes as a pregnant woman you are likely to experience misalignments in the low back, pelvis, and sacrum. These misalignments make you more likely to have common aches and pains such as headaches, upper back pain, lower back pain, pelvic pain, hip pain, and leg pain.

I am often able to alleviate these common aches and pains using the Webster Technique on my patients. So you do NOT have to constantly suffer through pain and loss of sleep during your pregnancy.

A study of pregnant women who received chiropractic adjustments in pregnancy said they experienced less back pain and also had less pain during labor.

You are probably concerned with the safe use of chiropractic during pregnancy. There are no known contraindications to chiropractic spinal and pelvic adjustments during pregnancy. Preliminary results of an International Chiropractic Pediatric Association’s research project showed no adverse effects reported in 274 cases of pregnant women who had the chiropractic Webster Technique during pregnancy. There were only 13 slight soreness aggravations reported following the first adjustment. 100% of the soreness was resolved as reported later.

Pregnant women report to me that they sleep better and have much less pain following adjustments using the Webster Technique. The Webster Technique analysis and adjustment can help pregnant women to have more comfortable pregnancies. Read more about the Webster Technique on our web site.
