Hi, I’m Dr. Nicole with Sleigh Family Chiropractic and today I’m going to talk to you about why we need to take X rays when we are treating neck pain.
X-rays Can Help us Determine the Cause of Your Neck Pain
So a lot of patients come into the office asked me why we need to take X rays. And the main reason is because we can’t necessarily feel everything that we can see on an x ray. So it allows us to visualize the cervical curve, the vertebral alignment, as well as the disk spaces, which hold the disc which is between the bones of the spine. So all three of those things are very important when it comes to treating neck pain. So this here is what a side view of the neck looks like from an x ray. And there are three things that we want to see we want to see this nice smooth T shaped curve. We want to see good spacing between each bone, and then we want to see nice smooth edges around each bone. So this analysis will allow us to determine where to adjust where not to adjust what technique is going to be best for you specifically, as well as how long it will take for us to treat your neck pain. As far as therapy goes, it also gives us a good idea as far as which therapies are going to be best for you.
