Pediatric Chiropractic Care

Our Pediatric Chiropractors' Kind, Caring Approach

As parents themselves, Pediatric Chiropractors Dr. Katie Sleigh and Dr. Quintin Sleigh use a gentle, nurturing approach to keep your child's spine healthy and treat other "normal" childhood conditions, such as allergies, asthma, ear infections, colic, digestive problems and more.

In fact, the entire staff at Sleigh Family Chiropractic care for and enjoy children. We even include a play area with toys and other activities for babies, toddlers, and young children.

Why Your Child May Need Pediatric Chiropractic Care

Imagine Falling 20 Times a Day!

Kids fall and jar their spine on a daily basis. They fall on their rears ten to thirty times a day when they're  learning to walk! Children take regular tumbles, often  on their heads, as they begin to run and while still mastering their coordination. They fall repeatedly until they master their balance skills when learning to ride a bike or roller blading.

Kids do tend to bounce back quickly after these minor injuries.  But the number and frequency of these falls do have lasting effects in the spine. Minor problems can turn into much more serious health problems down the road if not adjusted through pediatric chiropractor care.

Childbirth Is Traumatic for Mom AND Baby

Even natural child birth can be a very traumatic event. The amount of force used in the deliveryprocess may likely cause  nerve and spinal injury.  Many infants are born with bruises and lacerations on their bodies.  If this is what we see on the outside, imagine what happens to the baby’s delicate spine and nervous system!

My child isn't in pain, why would he or she need pediatric chiropractic care?

Many parents figure since their child isn’t complaining of back or neck pain they don’t need to  seek pediatric chiropractor care. The types of problems that cause pain in adults are generally not seen in children. However,  many times this is when they start.

Most adults see the chiropractor because they are having chronic pain after the problem has been present for 20-30 years. This is why we encourage all parents to have their children and even infants checked for the need for chiropractic care. No parent wants their child to suffer from chronic pain in the future, so it's best to get them checked as soon as possible.

In addition, pediatric chiropractic care is much more than just pain relief.  As chiropractors, we ensure that the spine is functioning properly. This eliminates nerve system interference and irritation. The nerve system controls every single cell, tissue, muscle, and organ in your body. The body will not function at its best when there is nerve system irritation. Because chiropractic care helps relieve nerve system irritation, kids who receive chiropractic care may see a decrease in common childhood issues like:

Pediatric Chiropractic Care Is Safe for Your Child

Both Drs. Quintin and Katie Sleigh understand that some parents may be apprehensive about taking their infant or child for chiropractor care.

Dr Katie Sleigh chiropractor with kids

Infant and pediatric chiropractic care are extremely safe for most kids. The amount of force used is not much more than the weight of a fingertip. Additionally, Dr. Katie Sleigh has completed a certification in pediatrics through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association. Dr. Katie always demonstrates the pressure of an adjustment both to the child (if age appropriate) and the parent prior to adjusting children. Parents are generally amazed at how little pressure she actually uses.

Every parent wants his or her child to grow up as healthy as possible. Now is the time to be proactive to ensure that your children will be healthy throughout their entire lives!
