Hi, I’m Dr. Nicole with Sleigh Family Chiropractic and today I’m going to talk to you about how chiropractic care can help relieve ear infections.
Less Childhood Ear Infections with Proper Joint Alignment
So about 80% of kids will experience at least one ear infection before the age of three. And most of those ear infections are actually caused by a viral infection rather than bacteria, which means antibiotics are not always necessary. A lot of times ear infections can arise when the joints of the spine especially in the upper portion of the neck, are not functioning properly, which creates stress on those nerves that actually go and travel to the muscles of the ears. So when they’re not functioning properly, those muscles can open up and drain the fluid of the ear. So if we look at the poster here, this is the upper portion of the neck. And that are that’s where the nerves exit, they go to the muscles of the ears, and you can directly see that one of those symptoms can be ear infections. So with chiropractic care, we make sure that those joints are functioning how they’re supposed to, that’s going to take a lot of pressure off of the nervous system, allow those nerves that travel to the ear to function properly, which leads to the draining of the fluid of the ears.
